New XF 10-24mm and first run

I was thinking back and forth….plus all those reviews, blogs, forum comments….supposed to be a great lens..do I need it ? Heck yes I do, having the ability to shoot wide is nice, I caught myself a few times where I liked something but couldn’t walk back any further to frame it as I wanted. No technical bla bla here, it’s bigger, not much longer than the 18-55 but much wider at the front. A bit heavier and I admit I felt the first time the XT1 hanging from my neck.

My wife wanted to see the french themed exhibition at the Gardens by the Bay and said I could shoot my photos, oh yeah dear you are sooo right. This is a quick walk with my left eye at the viewfinder and the other eye on my kids. The lens is easy to handle, the missing aperture ring is not nice but manageable. Should you plan to correct the distortions plan accordingly your composition as you may find yourself loosing quite a bit of your photo when you constrain the proportions. What shall I say other than to repeat what others already have written it’s a great lens with great performance capable of nice close ups.

The main target on the first pic are kites but that is something that didn’t work that well with this lens.
